There\'s false advertising, so if you think the \"2008 \" model you\'re getting on the website is what they\'ll give you, they\'ll get you with the same trap they got us! Not only did we have a 2000 model camper, but the rear suspension was shot and any left turn and/or bump you\'d go over would bottom the vehicle out. The front tires had absolutely no tread, the front left tire had a 4-5mm gouge which they knew about but deemed acceptable (imagine getting a tire bursting in one of NZ\'s many curvy mountain roads and having your kids in the back), there was mould on all the curtains inside the RV, the bug screens were broken, so we had the nasty NZ sand flies riding with us... And towards the end, the old battery in the vehicle died, so we had to drive a day to get it replaced... Really bad experience, wouldn\'t recommend it at all! Check out MAUI and KEA campers. You\'re just getting lured into a bunch of trouble with TUI, it really changed our whole NZ experience.

Every time we went to the petrol station we also had to check the water, which was very unhandy, as the passenger seat has to be toppled and all the stuff from the back pouch fell out. The %u201Ecosy matress%u201C pierced our breast. Wie had to buy part of the gear (like knives, salad bowl, towls). That might sound nitpicking but when we returned the car we heard Thomas talk to other customers that the towl and a spoon were missing. After all a small repair had to be done (due to our fault), we had overseen a pole when leaving a campground. The door was scratched, but although it closed alright Thomas said it had to be %u201Efixed.%u201C From the deposit we had made he kept more than 800 dollars. Asking fort he invoice Michaela sent it to us. The repair had not been done by a proper garage but by Thomas. Therefore the amount and description of costs was absolutely intransparent and in their sole discretion. A nice add on. All in all I personally wouldn´t rent a vehicle from Badmobils again.

The pick up for the camper was arranged for 9:00am, the camper turned up at 11:00am. Was upgraded to a 4 birth from a 2 1 boy what a downgrade. The unit was built on a truck and it drove like one. I climber in to get going, looked in the rear view mirror and a rung of the ladder to access the over cab bed obscured the view out the back. Started up a bit noisy sorted out the gears which are different from a normal 5 speed and got going. Not happy the noise turned into a racket with added gear box and diff whine and loose steering, and I have to put up with this for four weeks. After 50 Km I rang the company but no go, nothing else available and \"as it is a diesel camper one must expect a bit of noise\". We soldier on, after 3 days we purchase ear plugs not so good for conversation but at least I am not suffering ear damage. After 11 days we go back to the depot seaking some satisfacion. Again nothing else available, a noise level test peaks at 87dBa and as NZ standard is 90 this is deemed to be acceptable by the manager. Industrial standard in Australia is 80 dBa. What about a refund? the manager does not have the power to give a refund but we can upgrade to a 6 birth for NZ$1410.00 for the remainder of our booking. No consideration was given to customer satisfaction. We spent 4 and a half hours in the depot trying to arange some sort of copromise but did no good. We finally put all the cushions on the floor to deaden the noise and used cotton wool in our ears, we found that with just the right amount packed in we could deaden the noise and still converse if we spoke loudly. I would not reccomment Easygo or Pacific Horizon (same company) and will definitly not deal with them again. I have given a 3 rating only because the the camper unit was quite satisfactory.
+ ADD REPLY! Leanne says: Hey guys, I work as an Evangelist for Wicked Campers. We do hear polarised opinions on our vans (some people absolutely LOVE us, others don\'t love us so much :) ). We\'re really working hard to phase out all our old vans and have recently imported 200 brand spanking new vans. I am saddened to hear of the experiences some of you have mentioned above. Our company’s philosophy is centered on the experience of a unique roadtrip adventure for each customer. At Wicked we rent vans for this roadtrip adventure and we charge by time. Vans are machines which are man made and thus vulnerable to the laws of physics, even if they are brand spanking new and straight off the showroom floor. When people are on the road and encounter a problem with their van, we do our very best to get them going as fast as we can with the resources that are available to us. But even those resources are not always acceptable to our customers or even to us in our efforts to speed up the process. As for any refund requests, each complaint is taken seriously and considered on its own basis but refunds are only for time lost. We view complaints as a positive form of feedback and use them to improve our service and our product. We love word of mouth being spread about Wicked. Whether it is good or bad, the more that people talk about Wicked, the greater Wicked will become. Cheers, Lea (wicked evangelist - wickedcampers.blogspot.com)

+ ADD REPLY! Brizzle says: We rented a Wicked camper van last month (Nov 2008) and had problems from the start...we arrived to pick up the van only to find they had moved locations and not updated their address on the website, the current occuppiers were so fed up they refused to help so we had to go to a payphone and track them down...whilst they're phone systems were playing up this took some time! (A frequent problem when contacting them). We then got the van, almost had to pay twice the bond quoted but luckily had email evidence of previous quote... So we set off - then got a flat tyre, no problem initially as we had checked we had a spare...but once fitted the spare did not work as it was actually for a car not a 4WD drive van! So, we were then stuck...360K round trip from anywhere...so we called Wicked...to be told as we had got the wrong type of insurance (not to our knowledge) we had to sort ourselves out... Their advice was either to get a lift 400K round trip or drive on the rim with flat tyre - crazy! That same day they then took $2000 from my credit card unauthorised, just to add to our probs as when we did manage to sort out our own rescue, despite their negligence of not providing correct spare tyre, I couldn't pay for it until I sorted another source of cash out! We then finally got the van back, got the $2000 dollars refunded a month later, but they reneged on the bond of $500 telling us we were now being charged a penalty fee for driving in the a certain location...was news to us! Each time we get a problem they come up with a new excuse. And they will only correspond via email. They are the worst outfit I have ever come across - do not rent with them! We are still $1750 out of pocket for their negligence and only here to report back due to kindness of strangers who did help us out in our time of need - no-one could believe a hire company would act like this - I would rate them zero if I could.

+ ADD REPLY! Stin says: Myself and two mates took one away for a long weekend. We took our 4WD Spaceships FUSE into the central North Island to go fly fishing. The vehicle was ideal as it was easy to drive, we could store all our gear and fishing gear easily, cook, watch DVDs at night and access the tight bits that a larger campervan or motorhome could never go. It was a pleasure to drive and the cup holders are great for drive through McDonalds! For longer trips I would only like to sleep two people but we managed. We actually ran into another Spaceship in Rotorua and swapped DVDs which was really cool. They were slightly older and were using the Spaceship more as a car and using motels and B&Bs along the way. We had a really fun weekend away and caught a good number of trout.
